The foundations of Tarsus University were laid in 1992 with Tarsus Vocational School and Tarsus Vocational School of Health Services, which were established under Mersin University. In 2001, Tarsus Faculty of Technical Education, in 2005 Tarsus School of Applied Technology and Business Administration, in 2009 Tarsus Faculty of Technology and in 2015 Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences were established. Tarsus University was established with the “Law on the Amendment of Higher Education Law and Some Laws and Decree Laws” numbered 7141 published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2018 and numbered 30425. With this Law, the above academic units affiliated to Mersin University were affiliated to Tarsus University, and two new faculties and an institute were established: Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Institute of Graduate Studies. With the Presidential Decree dated 17/04/2019 and numbered 968 published in the Official Gazette dated April 18, 2019, the Faculty of Engineering was established. With the Presidential Decree dated 24/06/2019 and numbered 1157 published in the Official Gazette dated June 25, 2019, the School of Applied Technology and Management was closed and the Faculty of Applied Sciences was established. With the Presidential Decree dated 07/01/2020 and numbered 2036 published in the Official Gazette dated January 8, 2020, the Faculty of Health Sciences was established. On 21 May 2020, Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone Vocational School of Technical Sciences was established with the decision of the General Assembly of Higher Education. With the Presidential Decree dated 28/06/2021 and numbered 4180 published in the Official Gazette dated June 29, 2021, the School of Foreign Languages was established. Thus, Tarsus University; It consists of 1 institute, 7 faculties, 1 college and 3 vocational schools.
